THE EDITOR’S LETTER
2020 has been a trying year for us all. Our lives have changed in ways that we could not have imagined at the start of the year, some for the better but mostly for the worst. Societies are divided in opinion and in where they stand with many individuals looking to leaders for guidance during these troubling times. In life, humanity is tested in many negative and positive ways, and it is up to us to choose the path we go down to make the best of what we have and where we go.
“Feminist. A person who believes in the social, political and economical equality of the sexes”Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
And so with that, we are celebrating Women. Their triumphs and incredible contributions to society and to the fashion industry, because right now more than ever, we all need to cheer each other on. For thousands of years, Women have played second fiddle to Men, in the Home, in the Workplace, and in almost every aspect of everyday life. In 2019 Time Magazine listed its top 100 most influential people in the world with 45 Women making the list. They are a triumph to the Feminist movement and to all Women across the globe inspiring and influencing every field they work in from Politics to Entertainment. This Season, we talk about some of our personal heroes that changed the very foundation of society, from the girls of Sex and the City (yep that’s right, even fictitious characters can make history) to some of the most inspirational and undisclosed trailblazers within the fashion industry itself. In the words of Shania Twain “Let’s go girls”.
